John Menzies PLC said Thursday that has it won a tender for new business with airline Virgin Australia.
The aviation-services company will provide ground services at Darwin, Cairns, both in Australia, and Queenstown, New Zealand, and air-cargo services at Darwin from mid-October.
“These new contracts represent a significant expansion of Menzies’ operations in the Australian market and build on the recent wins with [airlines] Qantas and Jetstar,” Menzies said.
The latest contracts are in addition to existing business at other airports in Australia including Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
Overall, the contracts will see Menzies handle around 8,000 flights and about 6,500 metric tons of cargo per year at 10 locations for Virgin Australia.
